The assignment was to redo the waiting area of a Financial Management Company.  There were specific requests, "initially direct visitors to the check in window and not to go through the door to the partners' offices until escorted." The room needed to look conservative and professional. Also they wanted the room to look up-to-date  and not need to be redone for the next 25 years! Pictured below are some of the challenges in designing this area and the steps it took to overcome them.

Vinyl floor cloth, Williamsburg pattern, softens the square lines of furniture and hardness of the tile floors. The floor cloth also connects the two sides of the room and its pattern relate to the company logo on the wall. Matching wood side table and coffee table connect two sides of the room as well. Navy along bottom of two walls anchors the room to the floor.

The company logo on the wall draws you into the office. Check-in window shelf was made larger and used as a point of reference for the chair rail height. Chair rail also frames the check-in window.

When customers entered they  went to the door on left instead of the check-in window first.

11.2025 "I can not express how much I appreciate you taking on this project! With our front foyer, we have been indecisive and unfocused and we needed someone to guide us through. I appreciate you spending so much time to make every detail just right! The front looks amazing and a million times better than I imagined it could be!"

One month later. "We and all of our clients absolutely LOVE the front foyer! Thank you for keeping us on track and focused. Our entryway now portrays the professionalism of our firm, without being stuffy. Clients find it very welcoming!"
